Eligibility of members of Regional Election Commission

1) Not to be the candidate for member of Tibetan Parliament-in-exile
2) Not to be the staff of CTA who has been declared as candidate for Sikyong or member of Tibetan Parliament-in-exile
3) Not to be someone convicted by a court of law
4) Not to be someone who has been disenfranchised to vote or to stand in election
5) If a member of the Regional Election Commission is in the final nomination of any election announced by the Election Commission, he has to resign from his current post within a week of the receiving the announcement. And, the replacement be appointed as per the article 12 & 13 of the Electoral Rules and Regulations. In case, he refuses to resign, the Election Commission will nullify the votes he received from the place of his stay.

Composition of the Regional Election Commission
1) There shall be one Regional Election Commissioner and Assistant Election Commissioner
2) One member each from the three Traditional Provinces and Religious Sects
3) Minimum five elected members each from Africa and Europe, North and South Americas, Australasia
4) Depending on the number of voters, the Regional Election Commission can increase one to two members representing Traditional Provinces and Religious Sects. However, this is not applicable to the places where there are no Traditional Provinces and Religious Sects voters

Tenure of the members and observers of the Regional Election Commission

Excluding the Regional Election Commissioner, the tenure of members and observers of Regional Election Commission is 5 years beginning from 1 st May.
